Yesenia Rojas is interested in the entanglements between noise, time, and movement. Articulating a focus on experimental frameworks, her writing and sound work offer a focus on modes of performance that confront, and respond to modalities of power.

Rhythmically traversing territorial fringes of percussive ecstasy, avant-garde composition, and disrupting the linearity between it all, Rojas embodies a versatile lineage of electronic music subcultures as a DJ under the LOKA moniker. She defiantly blurs the edges of genre, reworking the dimensions of a club set with unbounded and determined execution.

Sites of activation and exhibits include MoMa PS1, MOCA Georgia, ICA Miami, and FRIEZE, The Norton Museum of Art, among others. She’s also composed original music for films premiered at Untitled Art, Odù Film Festival, Art Basel, Third Horizon Film Festival, and BlackStar Film Festival.

With Jesús Hilario-Reyes, she produces the New York-based nightlife project S.L.I.P. Rojas also plays live electronics ‘Formations For Eternity’ with multidisciplinary artist Tati Au Miel.
